There are alot of questions people ask about upholstery. Here are the most commonly asked: Q: Is reupholstering as expensive as buying new? A: If you have bought good quality furniture to start with, the answer is no. A good quality sofa, can cost as much as $1400 and up. This quality pieces can be covered for usually 60 -70 percent of the cost of new. This gives the customer the option of 1000's of different samples of fabric to choose. Not what they have on the showroom floor or a few color to choose from. Q: If I can buy new furniture for such a cheap price, why would I recover? A: Most new furniture is made to last for a few years. The quality of construction is poor, all the way from the glued and stapled plywood frames, to the lower quality of foams. People are taught that this is a throw away society. Things are made lower quality, so you can just continually buy new every few years. Most of this furniture is imported and taking away from American companies and workers. Remember you get what you pay for. Q: How can I tell if my furniture is good enough to recover? A: Good furniture is usually heavy, due to the hard wood used to make it. If you lift one corner of the piece of furniture, it should not flex or bend. If you have coil springs, they provide a better sitting seat as opposed to zig-zag springs. These spring are good also, but be careful of the size or length of the curves and gauge of wire. If the furniture has lasted longer than ten years, this is an indicator that it has durability. Name brand does not always determine top quality. Most companies make entry level furniture to compete with lower end items. Q: Why is reupholstery good? A: When your furniture is recovered, it is stripped and the frame is inspected and repaired is necessary. Higher quality foams and padding are used when recovering. We can replace worn out foam and replace with a density that you prefer. The customer can choose there fabric from thousands of samples to match your home decor. It is better for the environment, since no more trees will be cut down to make new frames. Plus, skilled tradesman will be working to make your furniture its very best. Not assembly line workers. Q: I have never had anything recovered, what is the process? A: It all starts with a phone call or an email. I can come out to your house and look at your furniture. We can then determine, if any repairs are needed, any changes you would like and what your time table is. I can bring a few sample books along or your can look on the internet with fabric companies we have listed, or just come into the showroom. Then we determine how many yards are needed along with a labor price. Once fabric have been selected we can them get a price down to the penny. If the estimate meets your budget, then we can proceed to setting up a time to pick or you drop off. Q: Do you pick-up the furniture or do we need to bring it to you? A: We offer pick-up and delivery service for a fee set for mileage driven and if more than one delivery person is needed to assist in the process. If the item is upstairs or in the basement, would factor into this also. These are just a few questions people have. If you have any other questions, feel free to call or email us.
